This allows anyone to prove the data existed at a point in time and has not been modified.<\/p>\n<p>The group will publish and formalize the <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chainpoint.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chainpoint specification<\/a> as a stable reference, maintain a test suite, and take feedback and use cases for the future evolution for the specification.<\/p>\n<p>The Chainpoint Community Group will coordinate with the <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/blockchain\/\">Blockchain Community Group<\/a> for general standardization of blockchain-related technology, and will operate according to the <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chainpoint.org\/w3c_chainpoint_charter.html\" target=\"_blank\">Chainpoint CG charter<\/a>. You can read more about Chainpoint, its history, and goals, on our <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@WayneVaughan\/chainpoint-a-standard-blockchain-proof-protocol-79def1c37189#.ayikplbdw\" target=\"_blank\">recent blog post announcing Chainpoint 2.0<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This group invites participants who are actively developing and deploying proof-of-existence, timestamping, and data integrity solutions, who are skilled in blockchain technologies, and who can work on use cases for Chainpoint and related technologies.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In order to <a href=\"\/community\/chainpoint\/join\">join the group<\/a>, you will need a <a href=\"\/accounts\/request\">W3C account<\/a>. Please note, however, that <a href=\"\/community\/about\/faq\/#is-w3c-membership-required-to-participate-in-a-community-or-business-group\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">W3C Membership<\/a> is not required to join a Community Group.<\/p>\n<p>This is a community initiative. This group was originally proposed on 2016-09-13 by Wayne Vaughan. The following people supported its creation: Wayne Vaughan, Doug Schepers, Jason Bukowski, Tom Kysar, Manu Sporny.
