{"id":30,"date":"2014-10-21T16:04:38","date_gmt":"2014-10-21T16:04:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/bigdata\/?p=30"},"modified":"2014-10-21T16:04:38","modified_gmt":"2014-10-21T16:04:38","slug":"to-empower-or-not-to-empower","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/bigdata\/2014\/10\/21\/to-empower-or-not-to-empower\/","title":{"rendered":"To Empower or not to Empower"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone,<\/p>\n<p>as I began following news on how Big Data may create opportunities for organizations I also wondered about how organizations might have to change in order to reach these opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>My sense is that, assuming\u00a0organizations have the technology in place to analyze big data, the most important thing is the ability of people\u00a0to ask the right quesitons when interrogating data.<\/p>\n<p>Then\u00a0a question is: do you think organizations should empower employees more? In other words, should companies design ways for employees to advance their ideas as to which data analyses to pursue?\u00a0For example: one employee may come out and say: I think that our customers\u00a0are favoring product X of our competitor to ours&#8230;then an analysis of social networks could be carried out in order to see customer relative perception of the two products&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>To conclude, there are several opportunities from using Big Data (are there?) and because managerial attention is limited, employees empowerment may increase the probability of getting value from data&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>What do you think?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone, as I began following news on how Big Data may create opportunities for organizations I also wondered about how organizations might have to change in order to reach these opportunities.
