{"id":84,"date":"2013-05-07T13:55:09","date_gmt":"2013-05-07T13:55:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/autowebplatform\/?p=84"},"modified":"2013-05-07T13:55:09","modified_gmt":"2013-05-07T13:55:09","slug":"w3c-automotive-and-web-platform-business-group-on-the-road-get-behind-the-wheel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/autowebplatform\/2013\/05\/07\/w3c-automotive-and-web-platform-business-group-on-the-road-get-behind-the-wheel\/","title":{"rendered":"W3C Automotive and Web Platform Business Group on the road, get behind the wheel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The W3C Automotive and Web Platform Business Group held its first face to face meeting in Barcelona on the 22 April.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of ideas were discussed during this meeting between <strong>BMW, VW, PSA, Visteon, Continental, Intel, KDDI, LG, Magneti Marelli, QNX, Ford, Strategy Analytics, Genivi and W3C<\/strong> with agreement on next steps to prepare the next face to face meeting in Tokyo (29 May).<\/p>\n<p>In particular:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A first round of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/autowebplatform\/wiki\/Main_Page#Auto_and_Web_Platform__API_draft_proposals\">proposals for a Web Vehicle API<\/a> was discussed, with proposals from <strong>Intel, QNX, Genivi (LG) and Webinos<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The group decided to first focus on an API that would provide read access.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Decision on next steps include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creating an overview of the superset of the proposed Vehicle APIs to look for overlaps and gaps.<\/li>\n<li>Considering whether the mandatory dataset provided in OBDII could serve as a starting point for a common dataset to be shared by different OEMs via a Vehicle API.<\/li>\n<li>Creating a document that maps current W3C work onto the requirements of the automotive sector (e.g. geolocation, packaging, &#8230;).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Don&#8217;t miss the opportunity to drive the automotive technology evolution, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/autowebplatform\/\">join<\/a><\/strong> the W3C Automotive and Web Platform Business Group.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The W3C Automotive and Web Platform Business Group held its first face to face meeting in Barcelona on the 22 April.
