formerly VIWI) Task Force has been meeting regularly. \u00a0We would like to see more participation especially in implementing the specification to prove it out. \u00a0Please check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/autowebplatform\/wiki\/RSITaskForce\">RSI Task Force Wiki<\/a>. \u00a0We are in the process of scheduling regular meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Here is quick summary of RSI:<\/p>\n<p>Volkswagen submitted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/Submission\/2016\/01\/\">RSI<\/a>\u00a0to the W3C, in December of 2016, as it is in-line with the HTML5 and &#8220;services&#8221; direction the Automotive Working Group and Automotive and Web Platform is pursuing. \u00a0The following domains were part of the initial submission:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/Volkswagen Infotainment Web Interface protocol definition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Protocol<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/Submission\/2016\/SUBM-viwi-service-car-20161213\/\">Car<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/Submission\/2016\/SUBM-viwi-service-cdn-20161213\/\">Content Deliver Network (CDN)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/Submission\/2016\/SUBM-viwi-service-media-20161213\/\">Media<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/Submission\/2016\/SUBM-viwi-service-medialibrary-20161213\/\">Media Library<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/Submission\/2016\/SUBM-viwi-service-mixer-20161213\/\">Mixer<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The RSI work is focused on guidelines and rules for designing REST APIs that are extended with a WebSocket subscribe mechanism\u00a0for delivering high frequency \u00a0data, avoiding polling. \u00a0The <a href=\"http:\/\/Volkswagen Infotainment Web Interface protocol definition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Protocol<\/a> specification describes the main REST\/WebSocket model with the Domain specifications defining domain specific information models.<\/p>\n<p>An open reference server implementation and framework can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/HTTPS:\/\/GitHub.com\/wzr1337\/viwiServer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a>\u00a0and may be used for implementations. \u00a0Ideally code will be committed back to this repository.<\/p>\n<p>The Task Force plans on focusing on Media and Location Based Services (LBS) domains to start with academic papers for LBS in the works.<\/p>\n<p>Please join us by reaching out to the group, following the group, following the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/wzr1337\/viwiServer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">GitHub<\/a> repositories, and following us on Twitter #w3cauto.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The REST Services Interface (RSI &#8211;
