Web integrates a wide range of disparate standards which means this group will provide feedback and submissions to a wide range of working groups and other communities.

The list below shows each of the groups and the current issues that require feedback and discussion from the Augmented Web community.

Specific wiki pages for each of these topics will be created soon, or feel free to create your own and start contributing now.

Geolocation
The accuracy of location varies most in the early stages of location detection and this is most noticeable when using the getCurrentPosition() API. A general discussion paper on how this impacts the User Experience across a wide range of geolocation based Augmented Web applications will provide useful and constructive feedback.

Device Orientation
Providing examples of Augmented Web implementations using the deviceorientation() API will provide useful feedback.

Device Motion
Providing examples of Augmented Web implementations using the devicemotion() API will provide useful feedback.

Canvas Element
Providing reference implementations that show what a critical data-pipeline for image based signal processing the Canvas has become within Augmented Web applications. An exploration of where the current performance bottle necks are will provide useful and constructive feedback.

WebGL
Providing examples of Augmented Web applications utilising WebGL will provide constructive feedback and help with the aspirational goals of mobile adoption of WebGL.

Addressing this issue specifically for Apple’s holding back of WebGL on iOS when it is already successfully implemented is a key topic for discussion.

And acting as an advocate to help communicate to Microsoft that it will need WebGL support within MSIE on mobiles if it wants to truly compete in the Augmented Web marketplace.

X3D Graphics
Working with the Web3D Consortium and Declarative3D CG will be beneficial for our closely overlapping activities.

Web Workers
Providing example implementations of Augmented Web applications in a similar way to the Canvas examples discussed above will be key. Specifically with the focus on showing how important Web Workers are for parallel signal processing.

Web Sockets
Providing example implementations of Augmented Web applications using Web Socket based bi-directional communication will be key to showing how the Augmented Web is more dynamic than any other form of AR. It will help to clarify the types of performance needs required for Web Sockets within the Augmented Web.

Audio Element
Providing example implementations of Augmented Web applications using audio elements will be useful.

Video Element
Providing examples implementations of Augmented Web applications using video elements will be useful.

Web Audio
Providing example implementations that fuse Web Audio based spatialised sound with other sensor APIs will be provide constructive feedback and a great test case for showing how important timing and performance is within the Augmented Web context.

Typed Arrays
Providing example Augmented Web implementations will show how critical Typed Arrays are to all forms of sensor integration and rich media/signal processing.

Media Capture and Streams (formerly known as getUserMedia)
Specifically the issue of device enumeration and access to camera intrinsics is a key topic that requires much vocal involvement from the Augmented Web community. This obviously needs to be balanced against security needs, however currently the term “fingerprinting” seems to be used as a universal tool for shutting down a lot of this discussion. Providing clear and rational feedback on the pros and cons of these features and some real use cases that show they are hard requirements will go a long way to helping this activity move forward.

WebRTC
Providing example implementations that show WebRTC integrated into a wider Augmented Web context will help to broaden the definition of “real time peer-to-peer” communication. The integration of WebRTC is one of the key enablers of the Augmented Web and together we can really capture the imagination of people all over the web.

Community Groups
Declarative3D – <a title="http://www.w3.org/community/declarative3d/"
