Expertise/BIO

Ted has been working on web accessibility and user experience for over 18 years. My current focus is on creating WCAG 2.0 compliant web pages and accessible SVG 1.0 Charts. I serve as the accessibility lead for Elsevier, the world's largest publisher of scientific journals and books. I complete VPATs, create educational courses for our employees, and work with business and technology leaders across our company. I have experience in creating and testing accessible PDFs. As a UX professional I have completed numerous design and user research projects in many domains including back office systems, health sciences, geoscience, online learning management systems, and academic research.

David Sloan

I'm UX Research Lead at The Paciello Group. I've been doing accessibility and UX consultancy for many years, with a focus on user research with older and disabled people. My background is in higher education, having previously worked at The University of Dundee as a researcher and teacher in accessibility in inclusive design.

I'm particularly interested in ways in which we can more effectively teach accessibility to learners in different contexts, ranging from computing science/interaction design/HCI to a basic component of digital literacy. I'm also very interested in ways to develop workable and effective educational strategies and activities for using technology to enhance inclusive teaching.
