Current Status of Deliverables
This section provides pointers to ongoing work documents:
Compilation of previous work of the group:
Interest Group Work
From the April 2016 on the IG have weekly web conferences (details see below). The exception of the Communications Strategy Task Force which has a teleconference on a monthly basis and conducts most of its business via email.
The WoT IG uses the public mailing list [public-wot-ig@w3.org for discussions and the github issues tracker for the documents listed above (see links in the documents). We use GitHub for draft Interest Group deliverables and information relating to plug-fests. There is an additional list for the Communications and Collaboration task force: public-wot-coms@w3.org
IG Meetings
- We will aim to send the agenda to the mailing list several days in advance of the meeting to give people a chance to prepare.
- Please send agenda requests in advance to the public list with the prefix [Agenda] as part of the subject line.
- Minutes will be linked from this page and from an email sent to the public list.
W3C currently uses WebEx. You are expected to make use of the IRC tools for meeting management, e.g. minute taking, actions, queue management and so forth, see below. To book a call with the W3C WebEx system, you should email the W3C Web of Things IG staff contact Dave Raggett, or if he is traveling and unavailable, please email W3C Admin via adminreq@w3.org setting out the start time of the meeting and the time zone it will be linked to, as well as the name of the W3C group (in our case "Web of Things IG"), and finally whether the meeting is a one or else the recurrence interval, e.g. weekly. The booking confirmation email will include the following information.
- host code for the person who is running the meeting - participant code for all other meeting participants - URL for the WebEx meeting page - ICS file for adding the meeting to your calendar
Note that WebEx allows participants to use their computers for calls as an alternative to using regular telephones, and tends to provide better audio quality. Please familiarise yourself with following best practices:
Teleconferences
Please note: Our teleconference bookings have been updated following instances of fraudulent calls using the Cisco WebEx service.
You can use your computer to connect to the audio conference for free via the WebEx page. This also provides support for screen sharing. If you are unable to connect via your computer, you can dial in via a regular phone line, but note that this will be charged as a call to the USA. If you are planning on sharing your screen for a presentation, please first provide a link to the presentation as part of the meeting agenda! This is important for the minutes and for accessibility!
To avoid a repetition of fraudulent calls, the ICS files, host codes and meeting passwords should not be shared on the public list or a public wiki or other web page, e.g. in the agenda or minutes.
We use IRC for each call, and the channel name should be given in the meeting agenda. We use #wot as the base channel for the Interest Group.

Mailing Lists
As the Web of Things IG Charter says, this group primarily conducts its technical work on the public mailing list at public-wot-ig@w3.org (archive). We encourage the use of prefixes in email to help identify emails relating to task forces or for meeting agendas, e.g. if you have an agenda request for an upcoming meeting please start the subject line with [agenda].
Note: the first time you send an email to any W3C list you will get a response with a link to a form for W3C's archive approval system. This requires you to choose between the following options:
- YES, W3C may archive this message on its Web site.
- YES, W3C may archive this message and any further messages I send to public-wot-ig@w3.org on its Web site.

If you do not respond, your email to the list will your message will not be archived online or distributed to the list. If you lose the email with the link please contact the staff contact (Dave Raggett).
There is also a W3C Member-only list at member-wot-ig@w3.org (archive), that is used for administrative purposes (f2f meeting planning, telephone conference agenda, etc.) and may be used for sharing sensitive information if needed. Only the official members of the group are subscribed to this list and can post to it.
