Description of text captioning service for SC2002 plenary presentations

This chart shows the data flow between the units that are involved in the process of providing the text captioning service for the plenary presentations. From the speaker in the ballroom, the audio goes to a remote speech to text translation service. The speech to text translation service provides captions to the speech to text management service, which is also remote. From the speech-to-text management service, captions and corrections are sent to two units. One is to a computer making corrections, which is local in the ballroom. This computer in turn sends corrections back to the speech to text management service. The other is the speech to text translation client window, which is projected on the small screen in the ballroom. This speech to text translation client window consists of several parts. The first part is an area where the presence of a translator and a corrector is indicated by check marks. The middle part of the window shows the text that comes from the speech to text translation. Some of the words are printed in red font, which indicates that they are corrections made by the corrector, who is in the ballroom. The lower part of the speech to text translation client window consists of icons that indicate the users that are connected. Each of the user icons has the name of the user below the icon. One of the icons has the name Plenary, which represents the window that is being projected in the ballroom.
