Spec Review

From HTML accessibility task force Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

This page is a table to organizing reviews of the HTML specification. Currently under review is the 25 May 2011 public Last Call Working Draft. The first column is a "short name" for the set of document sections under review and a link to a wiki page to store the reviews. The second column contains links to the section(s) of the HTML document. The third column is the people assigned to do the review, and the fourth column is any notes. For the review, please review everything under the heading referenced including sub-headings, but not sibling headings (additional pointers to siblings are provided if needed).

Need UA vendors to review the implementation issues

John Gardner

John: I have looked over the specs and also asked Courtney Christensen, a ViewPlus expert on SVG and MathML to check them as well. We both note that there is nothing about accessibility in these two specs. There are a few things that should be specified, although perhaps not in these two sections. Until these are specified it will be impossible to make math and graphics uniformly accessible across all platforms, user agents, and screen readers. There may be implementation issues, also check the parsing section for issues e.g., with annotationXML

Josh: Added initial feedback regarding @summary in HTML 5 and the examples given using <caption>, <details> and <figure>/<figcaption>. I didn't find several of the examples to be very accessible, or rather they could be improved by the simple addition of @summary. So I wrote feedback incorporating our desire to re-instate @summary as a full citizen of HTML 5.)
