We have politeness (values of @live) for content that only changes based on system-and-environement events. But what do we do with content that sometimes responds to user input directly and sometimes changes without user action?

the application may be able to determine this, but we have no way to statically declare rules that encompass this level of complexity.

may also be something that we should discuss with SYMM and MMI working groups.

User agent or AT manages this. Not available from the (W3c) DOM. Should take to UAAG for consideration.
