1.0 Introduction

Welcome to a new era of text conversion. Welcome to Text2HTML. This program allows you to convert simple plain old ASCII text files to funky functional hypertexted potential web documents! You will be able to modify all the options to suit your needs. And best of all, the program is totally free.

1.2 License

This program is public domain. You may copy it, delete it, modify it, but you may not charge money for it. If you change the source code, please inform me with a short mail to flagg@oberberg-online.de.

2.0 General usage

The usage of TH.EXE is quite simple. You have to start the program from the DOS command line and provide only one parameter: the filename of the ASCII file you want to convert to HTML. Additionally, you can state the location of a different configuration file. So the syntax is

TH ascii-file [configuration-file]

2.1 Configuration file

The zillions of options you can adapt to your needs, like the html-header, the German footer (you should change it because it means "This file may be freely copied") and the settings for headlines etc. can be set in the configuration file which must be located either in the directory in which TH is executed or in one of the directories specified in the DOS "PATH" environment variable.

All options are explained in the configuration file TH.CFG which is included with the program. If you miss the configuration file, send a mail to flagg@oberberg-online.de.

2.2 Included files

The following files must be included in the ZIP file you downloaded to get this program to make it work:

TH.EXE - executable
TH.CFG - configuration file, very important

Optional:

BG.GIF - just a background image, but defined in TH.CFG as standard background
TH.HTM - the documentation.
TH.DOC - the documentation as ASCII file to demonstrate TH.
