Position Paper for "Query Language" Workshop Isao Masuda Information Broadcasting Laboratories, Inc. Kampo Asakusa Build. 8F 1-1-1, Nishi-Asakusa, Taito-ku, Tokyo, 111-0035, Japan Digital broadcasting services have started. Information Broadcasting Laboratories (IB Labs) proposed "Program Index" that is a kind of metadata added to the TV program. The terminals (STB) regenerate the stored programs in accordance with the scenario described in Program Index. We are now examining this Program Index to apply to the searching and managing system of the stored programs. Now, Once the TV programs had been stored in the local media the broadcasters don't have any method querying to the terminal system. For example, a broadcaster can not delete a stored program which is passed a fixed term. In order that the broadcasters manage the programs stored in the terminal, the system is required to execute specified actions (querying to delete said program) when specified events (passed a fixed term to watch) arise. We are now approaching from the TV program contents, but it is desirable to apply to the contents on the Web. It will bring us a real seamless information access. We would like to propose the formalism of query related in the specified event as the extension of the Query Language.
