A “binding” extension mechanism
- Guarantees that all parties understand the method or fail
New Methods can be introduced but...
- Needs a priori agreement of semantics
- Applications can’t be extended in real time
- No support for multiple, simultaneous extensions unless multiplicity of methods
Result is that everybody uses POST
