This diagram shows the high level Business Process covered by card payment business.

Card payment process:
- Definition: The process of performing a payment of good or services with a card. The process starts with the acceptance of the payment card, involves the authorization of the payment transaction, and the transfer of financial information (capture) from the acceptor to the acquirer. In some error situations, it is necessary to reverse the authorization.
- Trigger: The acceptance of the card presented by the customer to the merchant for the payment of goods or services.
- Pre-conditions: Presentation of the card by the acceptor for payment.
- Post-conditions: If the payment is successful, the acquirer is in the position of initiating the procedure to credit the merchant account and debit the customer account.
- Role: Cardholder, Acceptor and Acquirer.
