PICS encourages individuals, groups, organizations and companies to run Internet rating services and to describe them in this format. Doing so will allow software vendors to write programs that provide a simple-to-use interface for parents to set content selection criteria.
PICS will provide, by late November, reference code that reads these descriptions and produces a configuration interface. This code will be provided, free of charge and with no license restrictions, to the software development community.
Demonstrations of several possible user interfaces will be demonstrated starting on October 30, 1995. Many of these demonstrations will be made available, free of charge, as well.
