Help! We are looking at your http://info.cern.ch/ page on the Web. We
are using Netscape. One of us is using a PC, the other is using a Mac.
We are getting completely different pages! Mine (Mac) says "World-Wide
Web Home" at the top and has some nice graphics, formatting, etc. My
officemate's PC is getting a page that says "World Wide Web" at the top
and has no graphics. Her page has a lot more text than mine does. In
fact, the pages are completely different. A third co-worker in another
building is using a Mac, but his screen looks like my officemate's, not
like mine. If we are at the same URL, why are we getting different
screens?

We are trying to figure out whether the proper name is "World Wide Web"
(with spaces) or "World-Wide Web" (with a hyphen). But my page shows it
one way and theirs shows it another way! The documents linked to this
page are also inconsistent in the usage. Some show it with a hyphen,
some without. And in one place it says "WorldWideWeb," with no spaces or
hyphens. As technical communicators who want to be accurate in our
documentation, we wanted to come to the source to find out how the term
should be used. Most magazines we have seen say "World Wide Web," but we
wanted to double-check, as we sometimes see it hyphenated.

We would appreciate knowing how to space or punctuate "World Wide Web,"
and we are also interested in knowing why the same URL looks different on
our different computers. Thanks!
