Shen: Getting the code.

This code release is copyright CERN and others. In particular all the restrictions that apply to Mosaic apply to the Shen secured version of Mosaic.

This release consists of source code and binaries. At present the code has only been tested on Sun. Problems are known to exist with running the code on little endian machines such as DECstations.

Installation

The instalation of Shen secured Web products is identical to that of the standard versions except:

• A new authentication scheme `DIGEST' has been defined. This replaces the BASIC method. The DIGEST method requires a different password file to the BASIC method. This should be maintained using the new htadm program supplied. NB this format is NOT compatible with that of UNIX password files.

Porting to other systems.

The next priority for porting is the ability to run the code on little endian UNIX machines. After that VMS compatibility and backwards compatibility with non ANSI (K&R) C compilers will be added.
