Creating Content for the Web

Submitted by Dale Dougherty, Songline Studios

This panel will discuss the challenges of developing content for the Web. In particular, we will examine creating content in a medium where it is difficult to charge customers. As Esther Dyson wrote in an article in Wired: "The provider's vital task is to figure out what to charge for and what to give away -- all in the context of what other providers are doing and what customers will grow to expect."

How will the economics of the Web work for content developers? Will it continue to be an advertiser-supported medium or will user fees increasingly pay for the fare? What is unique about this medium and what do audiences online want to do?
