&lt;rp&gt; should be able to used outside of rubies, for cases where CSS is used to
present content. For example, in a chatting application: &lt;span&gt;John
Doe&lt;span&gt;&lt;rp&gt; [&lt;/rp&gt;12:30am&lt;rp&gt;]&lt;/rp&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt; where the inner &lt;span&gt; is
floated right and the &lt;rp&gt; is hidden. When someone copy/pastes it, the
brackets are visible.
