    <thetext>This could be really useful and a great accessibility feature, but as there is no concept of interoperability beyond the site (as it is site bespoke) then we need to ensure that this kind of data is readable by the AT and maybe even the semantics of the interaction expressed in some way.</thetext>

Rationale: The whole point of this feature is to allow scripts to store per-node data that _isn&apos;t_ exposed to the user. The right tool for exposing any constructed semantics is ARIA.</thetext>

    <thetext>Per the proposal at http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2010Jan/0245.html, the HTML A11Y TF does not plan to formally work on this issue at this time. This does not mean the TF has no interest in it, but does not have immediate plans to work on it. The TF may review the issue in the future.</thetext>
