<thetext>There is no "[attribute]" property of an element information item; the property is "[attributes]". The value of [attributes] is a set of attribute information items, unordered and each identified by [namespace name] and [local name]. We use the phrase "the xxx:yyy [attribute]" to mean that attribute information item in [attributes] whose [namespace name] is linked to the prefix "xxx" and whose [local name] is "yyy".

I don't think it is necessary to abuse the bracket notation by using "[attribute]". I suggest we simply say "the xxx:yyy attribute"; everyone will understand.</thetext>

> The WG voted to resolve this as won't fix.

Actually, I believe the WG agreed that we could/should add a note of some sort explaining the "abuse of notation".
