    <thetext>The unresolved SML reference definition (4.1.3) talks about recognized reference schemes but the SML Reference definition (4.1.1) doesnt mention reference schemes at all. That is, an SML reference is recognized as null if none of the recognized reference schemes resolves but there is nothing in the 4.1.1 SML reference definition that tells you what a reference scheme might have to do with an SML reference.
