    <thetext>Section 5.1.1 states that &quot;Model validators MUST support the sml:acyclic attribute on any &lt;xs:complexType&gt; element in a schema document.&quot; There is no restriction to only complexTypes that allow the sml:ref attribute (indicating an SML reference).
