SML null references have no target. [Note: I worded the 1st sentence VERY carefully so it is consistent with 4.1.2.1 which (a) equates target to resolving the ref (b) allows a ref to resolve to >1 target element]. This definition is used in multiple sections that follow, including 4.3 which is now pretty distant. 4.1.2.1 At Most 1... remove "(or resolve to)" since this is now covered above. 4.1.2.3 Null References "A model validator MUST not attempt to..."
