    <thetext>I don&apos;t understand the way this has been changed.

Previously the test had two possible results: an error, or a successful cast. The first occurs if the input is not validated against the schema, the second occurs if it is validated. This is a stupid design - it would be better for the catalog to say whether input validation is expected - but there&apos;s a long history behind this and it&apos;s too late to change. The latest change says there is only one possible outcome, an error. This is incorrect.</thetext>
