    <thetext>Section 5.2 of part 1 [1] describes 3 ways to start schema assessment. The 
first is to specify a complex type. Any reason why it was restricted 
to &quot;complex&quot;? Isn&apos;t it also useful if I validate the following by specifying 
xs:int?

    <thetext>The Working Group accepted a proposal to adopt this change (among others)
at our face to face meeting in August; the discussion in sectino 5.2
(Assessing schema-validity) no longer restricts type-driven validation to
complex types.
