    <thetext>Perhaps we can relax the rules for TDU a little bit. After all, when an argument is of type xs:boolean, all we need to know is whether the value is true or false, so either it is, or it isn&apos;t in the case of nodes. Hence for xs:boolean the TDU can be inspection.</thetext>

    <thetext>We discussed this in Prague and concluded that the proposed action is too optimistic.  When a function requires a parameter of type boolean and a node is passed as an argument, the node is atomized; the optimization proposed here would work if its effective Boolean value was taken.</thetext>
