    <thetext>The xsl:stylesheet/@version attribute should only be mandatory when the stylesheet is a top level element; it&apos;s redundant when the xsl:stylesheet element is a child of xsl:package.</thetext>

    <thetext>I have taken the liberty of fixing this as follows, subject to WG review:

&lt;p&gt;The &lt;code&gt;version&lt;/code&gt; attribute indicates the version of XSLT that the stylesheet module requires. The attribute is &lt;rfc2119&gt;required&lt;/rfc2119&gt;, unless the &lt;elcode&gt;xsl:stylesheet&lt;/elcode&gt; element is a child of an &lt;elcode&gt;xsl:package&lt;/elcode&gt; element, in which case it is optional: the default is then taken from the parent &lt;elcode&gt;xsl:package&lt;/elcode&gt; element.&lt;/p&gt;</thetext>
