<thetext>The XML Schema spec should specify clearly the range of numbers representable
by the float type, and make explicit when numbers round to the largest finite
value and when they round to infinity.

See the following for more information, and a summary of Dave Peterson's answer

> The XML Schema spec should specify clearly the range of numbers representable
> by the float type, and make explicit when numbers round to the largest finite
> value and when they round to infinity.

I believe that in 1.1 the range is clearly specified, and the rounding is correctly
delt with in the sample lexical mapping, so this can be closed for 1.1 when the
float/double proposal is finally blessed.

> See the following for more information, and a summary of Dave Peterson's answer
> to the first question:

<thetext>The WG agreed on 9 December 2005 to mark this issue as 1.0 only,
since (as mentioned in comment 2) the treatment of float and
double in 1.1 does answer the question. We also agreed that the
question should be clarified in 1.0 as well, so the status of
this issue has been changed from unclassified to needsAgreement.</thetext>
