<thetext>The term 'MIDI' is introduced and explained, but does not even show up in the informative references. At minimum, it should be added there. However, the following terms used in the MIDI API spec are, presumably, defined normatively by the MIDI spec rather than by the API spec; thus, it should be added as an normative reference:

MIDI
MIDI device
MIDI input port
MIDI interface
MIDI message
MIDI output port</thetext>

<thetext>Suggested patch: in section 3. Terminology add

The terms MIDI, MIDI device, MIDI input port, MIDI interface, MIDI message and MIDI output port are defined in [MIDI].

In section A.1 Normative references, add

[MIDI] MIDI Manufacturers Association, "Complete MIDI 1.0 Detailed Specification". ISBN 0-9728831-0-X</thetext>

<thetext>Added reference (https://dvcs.w3.org/hg/audio/rev/4c6a4fa8657b) - need to wait for Robin to add MIDI to biblio dB to change to proper reference. Will keep bug open to remind myself.</thetext>
