<thetext>Desideratum: for each primitive type, (1) supply an explicit grammar
for the lexical space.

Following on from this: (2) supply formal definition of the lexical
mapping for each primitive or special type. (The ordinary simple types
won't need one, because they use the lexical mapping of their primitive
type, restricted by their facets.)

(3) supply formal definition of the canonical mapping, too.</thetext>

<thetext>The WG discussed this at length at its face to face of August 2005.
Ultimately, we agreed to refer to the relevant IEEE spec for a
normative rule for the lexical and canonical mappings (assuming we
find such info there), rather than providing definitions of our own.
For more details, see the minutes.</thetext>

<thetext>All of the dependent issues having been closed (either fixed,
marked WONTFIX, or marked LATER), this one can also be
closed. I'm marking this LATER, since one of the dependent
