<thetext>Most of the IBM selected kanji and one selected non-kanji are part of the official JIS X 0212 standard, and a few characters have been added to more recent versions of JIS X 0208.

The ones that are still missing can be found in an IBM extension to JIS X 0212, Rows 83--84.
Tables:

    <http://coq.no/character-tables/ibmjapan2.js>

Safari's EUC-JP implementation includes this extension. Adding it seems harmless, but I am not sure how useful it would be. Perhaps someone could check whether this way of encoding IBM selected kanji and non-kanji is used in practice?</thetext>

    <thetext>If it's in Safari that's probably because it's in ICU, which means Chrome has these too. Internet Explorer does not do 0212. Hmm.</thetext>

    <thetext>I guess I rather stick to what Gecko and Opera have then. Less engines to changes.</thetext>

    <thetext>That sounds reasonable. I was hoping someone would check whether or not these characters are actually used on the Web, but I guess the lack of support for JIS X 0212 in IE makes extensions unlikely to be important.</thetext>
