<thetext>I have a HTML file, which I want to validate. The doc type I used is
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"

I'm getting the following message when my page is uploaded.

Sorry, I am unable to validate this document because its content type is
text/plain, which is not currently supported by this service.

The Content-Type field is sent by your web server (or web browser if you use
the file upload interface) and depends on its configuration. Commonly, web
servers will have a mapping of filename extensions (such as ".html") to MIME
Content-Type values (such as text/html).

<b> can you pls help me. </b></thetext>

<thetext>(I am not sure it's such a good idea to use the bug database for such calls for help. The mailing-list
would be a better choice, perhaps)

Did you, by any chance, use the "file upload" interface from a computer running windows XP (SP2)?
If so, check http://www.w3.org/QA/2005/01/Validator-IE_WinXP_SP2</thetext>

<thetext>This isn't a bug in the Validator. This situation is normally caused by a misconfigured web server,
a similarly misconfigured web browser, or the bug in the version of Internet Explorer distributed
with Windows XP Service Pack 2 mentioned in Comment #1.

Closing as Invalid.</thetext>
