<thetext>“Each input element is either mutable or immutable. Except where otherwise specified, an input element is always mutable. Similarly, except where otherwise specified, the user agent should not allow the user to modify the element's value or checkedness.”

Is the second sentence referring to immutable objects? "Similarly" seems to say that it applies to mutable elements, but contradicts the first sentence.</thetext>

Status: Rejected
Change Description: no spec change
Rationale: "Similarly" doesn't mean anything other than "in a similar way", it doesn't have any normative implications.

The second sentence is saying that nothing is editable unless the spec says so elsewhere. (It says so for most of the input types under specific conditions, such as the condition that the element is mutable.)</thetext>
