    <thetext>Why is it unacceptable?  Centering things is a stylistic issue, which is what CSS is designed for.</thetext>

Rationale: A long-standing design goal of HTML5 is that it removes all or almost all presentational markup, in favor of CSS.  See, e.g., bug 9355 for discussion.  This has been argued to death and it&apos;s not going to change, unless you want to try escalating.</thetext>
