<thetext>Include "autofocus" in the list of "The following content attributes must not be specified and do not apply to the element" for <input type="hidden"> :: http://dev.w3.org/html5/spec/states-of-the-type-attribute.html#hidden-state

Autofocus focuses on the control, "allowing the user to just start typing without having to manually focus the main control" - hidden elements cannot be focused on because there is no place for typing.

https://developer.mozilla.org/en/HTML/HTML5/Forms_in_HTML5#The_autofocus_attribute claims autofocus cannot be applied to type="hidden" for that reason, but it's not in the current list of content attributes that must not be specified for hidden.</thetext>

Status: Rejected
Change Description: no spec change
Rationale: The attributes on that list are only <input>-specific attributes.

Global attributes currently generally have no conformance criteria regarding when they can be used and when they cannot. This may be something we should change, but if so, it's something we should change more generally than just in this context.</thetext>
