It seems more accurate to say that the media element &quot;is not currently
playing&quot; instead of saying &quot;is paused or not&quot;. The phrase &quot;is paused&quot; seems to

when a page is first viewed and the video has not been played yet.

Change Description: no spec change
Rationale: 

media.paused definitely doesn&apos;t represent if the element is playing or not. There are a lot of ways in which .paused can be false but the element not be playing.

Do you have another suggestion? I don&apos;t want something less accurate than &quot;is paused or not&quot;, but I&apos;m happy to change it if we can find something better.</thetext>
