<thetext>Specification: http://www.whatwg.org/specs/web-apps/current-work/multipage/number-state.html
Section: http://www.whatwg.org/specs/web-apps/current-work/#file-upload-state

Comment:
The "size" attribute is disallowed, but may be useful on input="file". IE,
Firefox and Opera all implement it, allowing you to reliably change the size
of the file path textbox (Webkit browsers don't use a textbox). Styling the
file upload file using CSS, in contrast, is inconsistent at best.

<thetext>Sounds like those browsers should just let CSS work correctly, and then the problem would go away, right?</thetext>

Status: Rejected
Change Description: no spec change
Rationale: For browsers, allowing authors to style a file input in general (whether by CSS or by size="") is a bit dodgy from a security perspective. I really highly recommend just letting browsers make them look like whatever they look like.</thetext>
