    <thetext>Microsoft test elemU015 uses the regular expression [ae-]x which is invalid according to the rules adopted in XSD 1.1.

I&apos;m not sure whether we have decided this is also disallowed in XSD 1.0. At one stage I think we were considering retrofitting the whole regex appendix from XSD 1.1 to XSD 1.0.</thetext>

    <thetext>For what it&apos;s worth, my regex parser says this is legal both in the grammar of 1.0 1E and in that of 1.0 2E, and that no extra-grammatical rules in those specs render it illegal.  The output of the parser is:
