    <thetext>The spec says &quot;Leading spaces are ignored. Trailing spaces and any trailing garbage characters are ignored.&quot; This should be changed to &quot;Leading spaces are ignored. Trailing characters after any non-digit character outside the valid range are ignored.&quot;

This means that &quot;10abc1&quot; will be treated as &quot;10&quot; not as &quot;101&quot;, for example.</thetext>

    <thetext>Maybe just a clause pointing that these characters are defined in the algorithm below? This was reported to me from one of our reviews of the spec and was a stumbling block for the reader.</thetext>
