W3C Inc. is the new legal entity that will continue the mission of the Consortium to shepherd the web by developing open standards with contributions from W3C Members, staff, and the international community as we move from the Hosted model.
Yes, W3C is incorporated as a Delaware U.S. not-for-profit. We submitted an IRS application for recognition of 501(c)(3) tax exempt status (Form 1023) in late December 2022.
The current bylaws of World Wide Web Consortium, Inc were adopted on 19 October, 2022.
The EIN for World Wide Web Consortium, Inc. is 84-4023862.
We are still working out the details with W3C Inc. and the Partners-to-be. We will share more details as available.
Yes. You may continue to pay in the same currency you used pre-transition. Please contact invoicing@w3.org with further payment questions.
Yes. Your membership will be assigned to W3C Inc. on January 1, 2023, and your member benefits will continue.

The only substantive change in new member agreements that are entered on or after January 2023 is to replace the four Host organizations with W3C, Inc.
