Auto WG

Chairs: Paul Boyes (INRIX), Rudolf Streif (JLR), Peter Winzell (Mitsubishi)

• initially started with a WebIDL approach - similar to phone, bt, microphone, camera etc
• Sensors API and Web of Things (IoT abstraction layer) discussions
• Pivoted to service approach
• Web Sockets and [possibly] HTTP REST
• Benefits: browser extension maintenance, Qt HTML5 headless, layered security, other approaches

Auto BG

Chairs: Paul Boyes (INRIX), Wonsuk Lee (ETRI), Qing An (Alibaba)

• Initially LBS and Media
• VW Submission
  media services, library, cdn, signals, mixer, protocol and possibly notifications and nav
• Privacy & Security
• Web Payments (task force being launched with another W3C group)

VW Group Submission

• lengthy debate
• VISS (Genivi VSS based) continuing on W3C Rec track as the WG is chartered
• intent to converge on v2
• meanwhile exploring the other "domains" besides signals
• prototyping media, other - possibly demo at showcase
• Thursday track on competing signals API at 11:30am

Web Payments

W3C has a Web Payments Interest Group (strategy) and Working Group

• API between merchant, payment providers (in browser or separate apps), and customer
• key stakeholders (WG) (IG)
• spec maturing, starting to ship in production browsers
• Web Payments Interest Group were looking at what to focus on next
• Joint Auto and Payments proposal
