Rick Johnson: The Publishing WG is launched
Bill McCoy: ;-)
Bill McCoy: draft web page (work in progress): http://w3.org/publishing/summit-2017
Bill McCoy: This draft will be edited significantly
… please send comments and edits
… Announcements will go out tomorrow (or so) along with TPAC registration
Bill McCoy: Some suggested that we also solicit speakers
Tzviya Siegman: so program is not complete
Paul B: Will there be a link on the TPAC Agenda?
Bill McCoy: Yes, but this is a co-located event, not a TPAC event
Karen Myers: https://www.w3.org/2014/11/TPAC/
Paul Belfanti: It would be helpful to have a visual cue
Karen Myers: Susan said she expects page to go live by end of day tomorrow
… I sent a draft media advisory about meeting -we can discuss offline
Bill McCoy: This is a preliminary announcement
Rick Johnson: There is a Friday afternoon meeting of the BG
… The chairs don't know about this meeting
… Is this a place holder that we have to plan?
Garth Conboy: We set it up as a placeholder. Go plan
George Kerscher: if you want me to reach out to Carla Haydn, let me know
Tzviya Siegman: Remember to list the other female speakers on the announcement
Ivan Herman: Will an announcement include the Publishing blog?
Tzviya Siegman: I spoke to Makoto this morning. He will attend ISO meeting on 21 Jun. He does not need Publishing SC endorsement before that meeting but would like it before he prepares submission
… We recommend a call with George, Avneesh, Dr Cho, Luc, Cristina, BillM, Makoto to make sure all are on the same page for ISO
Luc Audrain: We have meeting about ISO and EU Accessibility laws at end of June
… It might be very quick (end of 2018).
… In parallel, EPUB Accessibility 1.1 might be complete by then.
… Avneesh has said that EPUB A11y might be ISO by 2019.
George Kerscher: We would welcome collaboration with the EU.
Luc Audrain: We are trying to understand if EU Commission can be part of ISO process instead of coming after
Paul B: My understanding was that there was a follow up set of activities for Luc and Cristina to coordinate with Japanese publishers
Bill McCoy: There is some disconnect between Dr Cho's push to standardize 3.0.1 and Makoto's push for Accessibility
Luc Audrain: I share Bill's concerns
George Kerscher: Avneesh should probably be on the ISO call Tzviya is organizing.
Luc Audrain: Ceremony for Pierre will be on 23 June
Bill McCoy: can we observe a moment of silence for Pierre in the F2F?
Liisa McCloy-Kelley: +1
Tzviya Siegman: +1
Luc Audrain: +1
Ivan Herman: +1
Luc Audrain: Ceremony will be Friday 23rd, 11:00 Paris time.
Rick Johnson: results of doodle poll pointed to breakfast
… Dinner on Wed
… for 7
Liisa McCloy-Kelley: I'll get a reservation
Tzviya Siegman: dinner at 6 or 7
Bill McCoy: Tzviya you have a lot to look forward to https://www.shazam.com/track/237193110/tiny-destroyer
Paul Belfanti: Where's Edupub?
Rick Johnson: The CG is formed. Dave, Rachel, and I are working on the task force
… We are doing everything except for Chapter 6, which is going to IMS
… Markus will help out on IMS side
Bill McCoy: Markus speak at Pub Summit!!!!
Bill McCoy: if he comes to TPAC no reason not to find a way for him to help (OK maybe better in WG than Pub Summit...)
Bill McCoy: yeah
Bill McCoy: +1 to Markus & Liza show
George Kerscher: Trying to get all of Matt's time committed (and paid for)
Bill McCoy: +1 re: Matt's help...
George Kerscher: Should we put together longer-term project plan for SC?
Tzviya Siegman: +1
Bill McCoy: Jeff and I had a conversation about W3C's overall strategy. One piece of that is that Publishing@W3C is the first area that is not a spec factory
… We do need a strategy for it so that we don't devolve into several spec factories
… It's up to the BG to make that happen
Tzviya Siegman: SC or BG?
Bill McCoy: SC steering the BG
Tzviya Siegman: I think there's a lack of clarity of how the SC and BG differ right now
Paul Belfanti: Guiding the work of the technical groups might be culturally challenging, but I think that's what we should be doing
Garth Conboy: See (many of) you in NYC next week!
Rick Johnson: Do we want to consider a summer hiatus?
