- [In regards to resurrecting HTML H1-H6, we are *keeping* them, as they have always been. We have removed the suggestion to use the outline algorithm, and nested section elements with h1 everywhere as if it was automatically assigned the right level. Because it isn't.]
- 15:52:52 [chaals]
- [People have suggested resurrecting the h element as one that gets its level from running the document outline algorithm. That suggestion should be followed up in the WICG incubator to get some traction with implementation first. In particular, it needs to explain the story for getting the right level information to the accessibility API - which was a fatal problem for the nested section/h1 approach]

- 16:27:51 [Zakim]
- agendum 6. "Action-2031 Credentialing http://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/track/actions/2031" taken up [from janina]
- 16:28:26 [JF]
- FE: really, this is a low-level API, but wanders into areas with minor concrens
- 16:28:40 [JF]
- Section 5, the usage of images in authrentication, etc.
- 16:28:57 [JF]
- FE: but we should continue to monitor this
- 16:29:24 [JF]
- FE: believe this may also be of interest to COGA
- 16:29:45 [joanie]
- q+ to mention relation to custom passwords fields (sorry to say the 'p' word again) ;)
- 16:30:06 [janina]
- ack j
- 16:30:06 [Zakim]
- joanie, you wanted to mention relation to custom passwords fields (sorry to say the 'p' word again) ;)
- 16:30:07 [JF]
- there is a non-normative example around a chooser - have notified Lisa S that there may be a COGA issue here
- 16:31:10 [JF]
- Joanie: notes that the locked icon in the browsaer address bar is not being exposed to AT
- 16:31:20 [JF]
- this surfaced in the APA password role discussion
- 16:31:44 [JF]
- there is nothing today that is related to this.
- 16:32:09 [JF]
- JS: this seems to be a piece of the larger discussion around updating authentication
- 16:32:37 [JF]
- do our APIs have a role to play there? - i.e. when the lock is present, taht the ATs report that somehow (perhaps a different voice)
- 16:33:00 [JF]
- CS; in the browsser UI, that icon is an image with an alt text. When the state changes that is announced
- 16:33:18 [JF]
- JS: that may be enough, or we may consider asking more
- 16:34:15 [JF]
- JS: in terms of what to do next... agree that we should probably revisit this
- 16:34:47 [JF]
- MC: we can mark it in the wiki as deferred, and we can set a due date of 6 months down the road [sic]
- 16:34:49 [joanie]
- q+ to ask if we need a mechanism to spin off small AAMs on specs like this
- 16:35:07 [JF]
- SM: web payments actually don't extend to this
- 16:35:17 [janina]
- ack j
- 16:35:17 [Zakim]
- joanie, you wanted to ask if we need a mechanism to spin off small AAMs on specs like this
- 16:35:17 [MichaelC]
- rrsagent, make minutes
- 16:35:17 [RRSAgent]
- I have made the request to generate http://www.w3.org/2016/05/04-apa-minutes.html MichaelC
- 16:35:36 [JF]
- joanie: sounds like an area where we may need to have a "mini" AAM spec
- 16:35:59 [JF]
- something that defines the credentialling API - if we agree that we need this, then "how" is the next question
- 16:36:41 [JF]
- MC: we don't have a formal mechansim to do that, although we are doing this today informally - this was anticipated inthe chartering
- 16:36:52 [JF]
- q?
- 16:37:37 [JF]
- Joanie: concern about waiting 6 months, and arriving then with nothing. Suggest we start the discussion sooner rather than later
- 16:37:48 [JF]
- MC: agree that we should start working on this then
- 16:37:56 [JF]
- perhaps we need to look at time-frames
- 16:38:13 [JF]
- JS: this may be a TPAC discussion (since TPAC is less than 6 months from now)
- 16:38:15 [joanie]
- +1 for TPAC agenda item
- 16:38:34 [JF]
- JS: suspect taht authentication will be a larger discussion topic at TPAC
- 16:38:53 [JF]
- FE: perhaps we should be asking for an "AAM" section in *their* spec
- 16:38:57 [JF]
- Q+
- 16:39:26 [janina]
- ack j
- 16:40:14 [JF]
- CS: perhaps just make it a pull request. (we provide the editorial, but they own the final output)
- 16:40:43 [JF]
- MC: if we get to the point of specifying mapping, then we should have a larger discussion on strategic methodology
- 16:41:02 [JF]
- however, it sounds here that we want to get started sooner rather than later
- 16:41:15 [JF]
- JS: sounds like a couple of action items here
- 16:41:47 [JF]
- FE: thinks they need to be aware of it - there are only SHOULDS in there, as some things are still missing
- 16:42:59 [JF]
- JS: outside of discussing this with Lisa, should we establish a stub in the ARIA work
- 16:43:05 [JF]
- need to discuss with Rich first
