JSON canonicalization is defined here: https://hl7-fhir.github.io/json.html
dbooth: We have two notions of equivalence currently : 1. byte for byte, or 2. the same after canonicalization.
thomas: If two documents have the same meaning then they are equivalent.
dbooth: but meaning is not
algorithmically determinable.
... We need equivalence that is defined by an algorithm.
eric: FHIR abstract model, with ref impl, end up with a resource with properties. I can check if two docs are equivalent.
dbooth: I think that is basically how the canonicalization algorithm is defined.
XML canonicalization: https://hl7-fhir.github.io/xml.html
eric: You can get FHIR doc equivalence without having the same dig signature, i.e., without having the same canonical form.
dbooth: but what do you mean by equivalence?
eric: same values in the abstract model.
dbooth: I believe that would have
to be 1:1 with the canonical form.
... If they are not 1:1 then the canonical form is deficient
and needs to be corrected.
... Need to define an algorithm, such that for any two FHIR
documents A and B, equiv(A, B) is true iff if they are
equivalent according to that algorithm
