# Position statement for W3C eBooks Workshop #

Hiroshi Takase, East Co.

## Participant’s Interest ##

EAST is a Tokyo-based software developer which was founded in 1985 and
has specialized in providing Windows-based solutions for a variety of
business.

For the past ten years, we have focused on server solutions, and now
we are expanding our expertise to newly emerged client technologies
including Google Android. These challenges will help us create
advanced solutions requiring interaction between clients and server.

We has also been a leading developer in Japanese language processing
such as dictionary, font amd EPUB solutions.

But please note that I would like to attend as an individual.

## Point of View ##

EPUB is a Web Standard based format but it seems that it does not
fully enjoy the benefits of Web technologies. For example, ebooks are
far behind the blog media in linking contents and sharing ideas
between users.

I am personaly interested in the following topics:

- Metadata
- Linking
- Annotation
- DRM
