Dear Workshop Chairs and Program Committee members,

We really appreciate your hard work on the preparation for the eBook
Workshop.

I am Masaya Mashiko from Kodansha.  As you may know, Kodansha is the
largest Japanese publisher that produces variety of books and
magazines as well as dictionaries.

And I and my colleague, Mr. Jun Ogawa, would like to participate in
the workshop on 4th June.  We work for Kodansha and are very
interested in digital publishing topics.

I myself have 30-year experience of working in the publishing
industry, and we have been working on digital publishing as well for
years.  Based on our experiences, we're interested in making digital
publishing platform much easier to create publications and more
interoperable.  Also we think there is an issue that current eBooks
don't have as many kinds of layouts available as paper-based books, so
we would like to improve the situation.

Unfortunately, we don't have any concrete proposals to achieve the
goal at the moment.  However, we're really interested in what could be
done and would like to participate in the workshop so that we can join
the discussions during the workshop and provide ideas from the
viewpoint of professional publishers.
