Identify the problem
Climate data is published on a data grid between atmospheric, land, and ocean climate data modelers. When model results are published, information about the data origin. Collaborating scientists wishing to analyze the data need information describing its origins to better understand its pedigree and distinguishing features.
The use of provenance
This example describes provenance used to capture the activities of the atmospheric scientist Bob who prepares, and executes a Community Atmospheric Model (CAM) run using a UVCDAT/Vistrails workflow, and then prepares the data for publication.
