Should "provenance description" be formally defined?

Description:
I've just noticed that PROV-DM makes extensive use of the term "provenance description", but doesn't contain a clearly citable definition for this. The nearest I find is at the start of section 2, but it's not something I can find, e.g., by navigating from the ToC.

Related notes:

Not all definitions are indexed. For instance, provenance is defined in the introduction, and is not indexed in the table of contents. It is correct that the term is defined at the start of section 2.

The definition occurs in the last sentence of the first paragraph of section 2 http://dvcs.w3.org/hg/prov/raw-file/default/model/prov-dm.html#section-prov-overview
