blip.tv is the next generation television network. It serves over 100 million video views per month and is host to more than 50,000 active online shows. It syndicates its shows' content to many platforms including Apple iTunes, Google TV, Sony BIVL, Vizio, Samsung, Roku, Boxee and TiVo along with many others. Currently, blip.tv is eagerly looking toward the future. It has committed to switching from Flash to HTML5 for its player technology (http://bit.ly/eUrYY5). By relying solely on HTML5 for its player technology, blip.tv is able to provide a consistent experience across multiple platforms. For example, the WebKit-enabled Google TV allows blip.tv to use the same player on a television set as they do on the desktop computer and mobile device. This contributes to a richer user experience and easier development. Blip.tv suggests that TV set makers embrace HTML5 technology to allow a host of new video platforms to participate in the previously restricted market. In 2011 and beyond, more viewers will be demanding integration of their favorite web video platforms, whether those experiences be delivered by traditional TV networks or online video platforms such as blip.tv, YouTube, Hulu and Vimeo.
